I know I’ve been harping on the brilliance of Call Me By Your Name quite a bit recently, but I can’t help it – it’s the Best Film of the year!

In the above scene, the main character, 17 year old Elio, talks to his father about his gay love affair. The father is played perfectly by Michael Stuhlbarg. 

For any parents watching this, think about how you can best encourage and teach your children. Screaming and hysterics and violence will only drive your precious and scared children away from you. 

This father seeks to show compassion, kindness, and understanding. Shouldn’t that be how we should treat those we love? To build up, rather than tear down?

While enjoying a relatively quiet Sunday afternoon, I encourage everyone to watch the incredible final shot that closes Oscar contender Call Me By Your Name. It’s so brave, and so powerful. The young actor here, Timothee Chalamet, probably deserves the Oscar for Best Actor just for pulling off the range of emotions we see on his face. 

This scene has haunted me since I first saw it. Give yourself over to the spell of this luminous film!
